That dome and turret cameras have original back box ( junction box ) you don’t need any adapters

I think I'm going to switch from a fully bullet system to partially dome system now. I hadn't thought about vandalism. For cameras mounted low, such as near doors I'll use dome but continue to use bullet cameras in places up and away such as near the top of my chimney. Thanks !

Bad video. If I was in your place I would have brought a dvr, a monitor and all types of Cams and shown proper presentation.

Some points you missed – Domes shouldn't be used outside – the dome causes internal reflections in sunlight and uv in sunlight causes the plastic in the domes to "mist" and become opaque leading to a degredation of the picture quality over time. The only advantage to domes is vandal resitance but you worry too much about this. Anyone getting close enough to turn or vandalise a camera will be caught on it anyway. If they're wearing a mask, they'd be wearing a mask on a dome camera's picture anyway and at least forcing them to vandalise or turn a camera will make them come close up to the lens. The best camera to use outside for most situations is the turret. It doesn't attract spiders like a bullet. Turrets have glass lenses so the lens doesn't mist over time degrading the image. Having flat lenses they also don't suffer from internal reflections in sunlight. Go to professional CCTV forums / ask installers and you'll find Turrets are the camera of choice for outside in most domestic / small business type applications.

This video was so helpful as I am trying to figure out which cameras are best for my home. I like the dome cameras but.. 2 things, what is and why do you need a junction box hook up and my home has no soffits to put this type of camera up. Does the doem have to be installed underneath a soffit or could it be installed directly on the face of the house?

Dome type, turrets & bullet: can these get wet outdoors (cause functioning problems?) or do they need to be protected from elements?
