Since the Nest Outdoor cam uses a magnetic attachment. Is that mean it can be easily stolen or disabled by someone? There is really no security.

    My personal review:
I have 3 iQ outdoor cameras
    1 indoor cam.
    Nest door bell
Used now for over 1 year and we are so disappointed with every aspect and would return for a refund if we could. We have good WiFi signal strength and randomly each camera will loose signal at different times and for long periods sometimes upto 4 hours. If all cameras lost signal at the same time we know the problem would be with our WiFi….
The app is terrible. Pinpointing a specific time of day to view is near impossible. The majority of the time you will see the blue buffering circle and nothing happens. The notifications randomly work. The nest door bell for example didn't spot our neighbour being escorted out of his house by 2 police officers but did notify us of his elderly mother walking up the path. Like I said everything is random.
The expense of the cameras coupled with the charge for the cloud for poor products is extremely frustrating.
You home security needs to be reliable. NEST IS NOT. I'd advise a wired system over WiFi. We live and learn

$399 each plus a subscription per camera! I thought we wanted to prevent a robbery.

Agreed. Most people does not need the IQ Cam which is nearly double the price in the province of Ontario, Canada. Adding the sales taxes of 13%, it is even more expensive.

A critical, but often overlooked, factor for anyone buying it in colder climates is the unit's ability to operate in very cold weather. The IQ fits that bill. The Cam Outdoor simply stops working after -10 c. If you live where it gets colder, don't bother buying the Cam Outdoor. The IQ is perfect.

I have 2 outdoor iq cameras (purchased the 2 pack) after 4 months the one in my backyard stopped working! Swapped camera cable and base it’s the camera! They have sent me a replacement already but am thinking of changing location or building some cover. The difference from both cameras I have was the one in my driveway (which works perfectly) has some shade protection and the one in backyard has nothing. I live in Texas maybe it couldn’t handle the heat not sure but I will see how the replacement holds up! So think about location because after only 4 months it’s ridiculous (if that’s even the problem) Hope I don’t continue to have issues like so many people have when I looked it up on the forums.

Is there any way to install a software in a computer and have the footage stored there instead of paying the suscription?

I own both and for me no, it’s not worth the extra money. The regular nest outdoor cam is enough really. I was not impressed at all with my IQ outdoor. It’s a bit clearer yes but I was expecting when zooming in for it to be less pixelated and more clear vs the regular but nope, it’s kinda like my regular nest outdoor. Luckily I did not pay 400 plus tax, bought it for $200 brand new on offerup. My opinion save your money and get the regular one. Also I’m sure Google Nest is coming out with new cameras soon since Home Depot sold the IQ outdoor for $100 each and all sold out!!!

Being in Las Vegas, I'm curious how sensitive it is to the heat. If it's in a shaded/under an awning will it shut off or stop working til it cools down?
