Nice work! I recently installed a Dual AV receiver in my 2001 Sierra, now I have good guidance for installing the backup camera. I used the Metra dash trim kit for the double din chassis, using a 3/4" hole saw, to remove the radio basket. No need to fight with rivets, no need to mess with the dash support.

not bad but i would consider putting a hole in the cab, using a grommet and silicone seal the slack in the hole from the rca end. may also be a good idea to wrap it in a wire loom and seal it with tape so the wire doesn't wear. no doubt his way will work though. personally i wanna do it once and forget it. i'm really here to confirm what i thought about drawing power off the reverse lights.

Great video, very informative. One question, do you have to connect a little power wire that’s coming off of the video RCA do anything in the back of the truck? I realize you have to connect it for a live feed from your head unit wire harness but what about the other end in the back?

I know quite some time has gone by since you made this but if you’re still wondering where the rust came from I think I know where. It’s most likely from the cab vents you ran the wiring through. The rubber flaps on them dry out over time and are unable to create a good seal letting water in. Running wires through only makes the problem worse. This usually leads to the rockers rusting from the inside out. The parts are kind of expensive considering what they are, and are not easy to replace. Not only are they kinda hard to get to but I believe they can only be purchased through the dealer which is probably why so many trucks are driving around with this problem. I would advise replacing the vents and taking the wiring all the way under the truck to the engine bay then finding an access point to the dash through the firewall.

Hello, I followed all the instructions in the video but I still cant get it to work. Everytime I put the car into reverse the screen goes black and I get a yellow exalmation point on the screen. I rechecked all the connections a few times I can not figure it out. If anyone is able to help or shed some light it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Great video. I've been watching all your videos about the atoto to prepare myself with the installation when it comes in. Can't wait! I have a question, could i tap in the same reverse wire if I'm using 2 different reverse Camara at the same time? I want to use my atoto and my lcd display rear view mirror to work at the same time. Thanks!
