This is more or less the same lyrics as "little Musgrave" by Nic Jones and "Planxty", only less detailed. Check those songs out. I prefer them actually.

Take note, children. THIS is how you sing a song. Period. The end.

I heard this album in university residence in 1974 – and while I had already discovered Steeleye Span, this utterly blew me away. SO well done; every track a gem – and especially this one. I was devastated to find out that the back catalogue was a little lacking, and that Sandy had died. One of the best folk singers I have ever heard.

For some reason I imagined this song as the dissatisfied older woman seducing a young page boy–a teenager at least. Probably because he's called 'Little', though he can't have been little in every respect or I doubt she would have been so pleased with him!

What a remarkably beautiful voice. I’m ashamed it’s taken me this long to really appreciate Fairport. RemarkablešŸ‘ŒšŸ»

This what might have happened to Alan H if he’d been tempted by that offer of an ā€œunlimited supply of boozeā€ but maybe that’s just a pipe dream
