It's SO evident how much Barry Gordy was trying to turn El into the next Michael Jackson. Between that and everyone forcing him to try to mimick his brother's signature vibrato, not to mention the poor work ethic of his other siblings/band mates, AND the abuse they all suffered and witnessed growing up, it's a miracle this man is still alive. There was so much terror and heartache behind some of the happy pop anthems of the 80s. I couldn't imagine having to carry that load.
