Love Galas, I use a few different types of apples to get a variety of tastes and textures. Will try making this crumb version, but will use a pre-made crust, Pillsbury’s is awesome.
2020 it’s still classic.
Can I use regular Quaker oats or do they need to be quick oats ? If so, what's the difference ?
I really like this recipe but i can never get it right. The filling soaks through the bottom making the bottom of the crust soggy. No matter how little liquid is in my filling this has always been a problem of mine. Any solutions? Should i bake the crust beforehand?
This looks really good I may have to break down and make this one.
I’ve been using this recipe for the past 5 years and have pass it on to the young ones they love it… Thank you 🙏
I just made this!!!! Its amazing thank you for the recipe 👏👏👏
😻
Lovely recipe wonderful.
This apple pie filling is perfection!!!!
Going to make this for Christmas Day!!! Thanks so much and Merry Christmas.
This recipe looks delicious, but it's not Dutch.
I'm Dutch and I've made a fair number of traditional apple pies, but this recipe is completely different.
I'm also not at all familiar with the "Dutch topping", except that it looks like the German crumble topping in Streuselkuchen. The traditional topping on a Dutch apple pie is strips of the dough in a diamond pattern.
This confusion is not new to me though. I also saw an American vid on a Dutch oven which looks like what we call a "braadpan", a pan and definitely not an oven.
I think part of the confusion is that the German word for German is "Deutsch", which is very similar to the word Dutch.
If you want to taste a traditional Dutch apple pie, go to almost any café in the Netherlands and order "een stuk appeltaart." You can also get them in any supermarket here. I can really recommend the one from the Albert Heijn supermarket.
I've made this several times and it has been excellent. I have found that I prefer more oatmeal, less flour, but I never write down how I change the recipe. Shame on me. In any case, this turns out really well.
nice opening words.. i love it! 🙂
Hey is the brown sugar supposed to be packed down or not? Just asking.
This is the best recipe!!! There are tooo many to go based on but this one is the best of all. My kids loved it!!
Stupid question but I’m going to ask. Is it unsalted or salted butter? Ty
I have been using this recipe for 3 years, and that’s how I trapped my husband. Feels like I can’t go on without thanking you. 🙏🏼
