The type of Micro SD matters a lot. Being class 10 isn't enough, you'll need a UHS 3. I 'm happy with mine given that it cost $85 shipped and you're comparing it to a cam that costs 3x+. I'm a noob to action cams and drone photography, so this is a good starter cam with dash cam functions.

Thank you for this review. You just saved me about $85 on Amazon for one of these.

Now back to the hunt for a decent actioncam that won't break the modest bank. 🙂

It's never good when they lie about their own performance.

I just watched a great review for this camera with great test footage from theonecanoe. I was impressed as I wasn't looking to buy a $500 Go Pro or $300 alternative. I did buy the X30 but almost got the Akaso V50x. I paid $100 CAD and after $40 discount, nice eh.

Nice reviews. Do you think that the image quality of this cam @ 1080 is better than Akaso v50x or Campark v30? Which camera at this price range has the best image quality @ 1080? Akaso v50x video quality is good only@ 4k. I think that for an action cam 1080p resolution is really important. Akaso v50x and Campark v30 are really bad @1080 and the sound is horrible. An external mic is a solution though.

How can these companies get away with basically blatantly lying on their description pages?

For me, the only thing this camera does in a satisfactory manner is the distortion correction. Whereas many action cameras convert the inherent barrel distortion of the fisheye lens to extremely ridiculous pincushion distortion, this camera's firmware very nearly flattens the distortion correctly. It is very close to properly flattened but still not 100% exactly right. There is a slight amount of pincushion distortion near the far edges. I am disappointed at the need to use post-processing to flatten the fisheye effect properly. This is something that all action cameras (and smartphone cameras) should do properly out of the box without any effort on the part of the end user.

Also, with this camera you can either have distortion correction or EIS, but not both at the same time. Distortion correction disables EIS. EIS disables distortion correction. I am skeptical about the need for these two features to be mutually exclusive. I think it is perfectly possible to design the firmware to handle both.

Here is another fail about this camera: I am getting 28 fps when I use any of the 30 fps video modes. (I am using distortion correction enabled.) This camera cannot even get the frame rate right.

Campark works best in 1080p not 4k even if it says 4k.
