In 1967 I bought his album "A day in the life". To me he is the best. Dig his first live recording at Tsuba. in Berkley 1962. Most of Miles Davis's set came to Tsuba and it was an admin impromptu jam.

Recent discovery (my YT icon is a mathematical proof; click to view on Instagram): https://www.instagram.com/p/CF9RDvhnOl2/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link
The guitar may be an instrument created for the dyslexic. The guitar's "B" string inherently has 5#s/bs; and naturally its relative major is at the "D" string, with 2#s/bs. The napkin shows in writing that all "written" music can thus (theoretically) be transcribed and transposed into a single picture/pattern super imposed on the guitar's fretboard.

His way to play guitar is so warm and smooth as a velvet blanket.

1965? Wow I guess he is a bit older than I remeber in pics but thought he passed by 65 already. Truly one of the best R.I.P. Mr. Montgomery.

Wow I've heard of this guy but this my first listen. It's as smooth as silk, very sophisticated and warm sounding. Can imagine this guy inspired many, George Benson being one.

The pianist is soooooo out of sync. Not really the 'flavour' I'm looking for. . .

A wonderfully great guitarist and a great jazz standard! I saw Monk perform this ( his composition) at the Vanguard in NYC many years back! So memorable!

It does not have to be this way. Someone is going to come along from classical and jazz and rule.
