This song would have over 200 million views if they didn't add all that chippy Doo-Wop BS into it. The harmonies of the first 24 seconds are pure gold. They tapped into something special there that would have transcended generations. Then it all goes to garbage at 0:25 when the whole tone of the song changes. They return to the good stuff throughout the song, to keep people hooked in, but this could have been so much better. The "Oooh Bop Bop" is just corny filler. It's as if they realized they had something special with the first 24 seconds, so they slacked on being creative with the other parts around it. Sounds like they didn't know how to go into the next part and keep it consistent while also shaking it up a bit. It's a botched job by Brian Wilson and company. People only know this version, but there's a whole other version that was never created where the part at 0:25 is 100 times better. People accept this version and think this is perfect because they lack the imagination to see how much better it could have been had someone else been given those first 24 seconds to work with. The intro immediately grabs people with a similar tone and in a similar way as The Beatle's Eleanor Rigby. But after the intro in Eleanor Rigby, The Beatles managed to actually transition well into the verses without creating a tonal misstep. Some call this song and The Beach Boys genius. This song is a tragedy because it's a shell of what could have been.

2:53 = the first vocal entry in the Beatles' Sun King (two years later – I guess Lennon stole it)

Great track, one of their best. The Beatles still ruled the world, though.
