Way too long to get to what people actually want. Atleast put timestamps so people can skip all the BS

what is NOT answered here or anywhere else I have researched these…how easy it is to move around a dark area and not trip over stuff? I know I can mount it..I want to know if it works well in 30FPS as a primary source of visual information. I can mount a Gen2 NV to a helmet and easily walk around my home, inside and out and easily walk around in the woods without the need to any flash light. I can see where I am going, I can see trip hazards and avoid them…. Can you do that with this Sionyx unit?

Turning down the fps will allow more light in. Not sure if you mentioned that.

This could have been a nice review, but you talk far too much. This could have been done in max 10 minutes. What a waste of time.

Need help, i have a question no one has been able to answer. Does it output video live? As in can you connect a screen to it and watch live what the Aurora sees?

I’m sure many people appreciated all the information provided in this video. I’m a caveman, and only interested in, does this thing work, and at what distances, quality of display, and how durable is it. Does it mount solidly in front of a halographic or other type scope, and does it affect point of aim?

I do wish Sionyx had made the eye more comfortable and more around the glass so it would not be so easy to hit and break. I also wish it was black.

Hello and thank u for this review! I was REALLY hoping you might go outside at night with this and make a video of the stars? I am looking hard for one for astronomy and someone referred me to this one. I only got a couple glimpses in your review. Maybe you could try it out and just let me know how it is? I need to take video with it. Again, thank you for this 🙂

I learned from the review, but. The camera has manual focus. In your daylight comparison, it is not clear what you focused on with the Sionyx, which has relatively small dof at least in twilight and night modes when the lens is opened up. The detail in the trees and the bench may be more blurry because the focus seems to be on the nearer objects. You did not say anything about focus. There is focus peaking to tell you what is in focus and not in focus, and most are surprised about this. The focus issue when you pan is particularly troublesome since some objects loom close and then there is only a distant set of objects. and when you did focus in real time I am not sure that you actually achieved good focus (the bush near the end). The lens is not like a GoPro, you do need to focus and choose what is in focus all the time. Most reviews I have seen also do not talk about focusing the darn thing, but it really matters (it is easy to do with the peaking).

an interesting (but fairly risky) possibility for Sionyx would be to make a modular device, so one could build your NVG out of different parts…a different lens would probably make a fair bit of difference.

one idea to try out – remove the battery and get the device really cold. Replace battery and try the image quality (mainly the noise) before the sensor manages to warm up.
