Less a horror film, this new Hellboy film had many elements that appealed to the horror fan not the least of which was director Guillermo del Toro whose name alone warrants that audiences take a peek at what he’s conjured up next.

At No. 2 was the once thought dead newest entry in The Mummy franchise The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor (with $102.5 million). Although it didn’t gross as much as its predecessors it still proved that the concept still has a few legs left to stand on if you just change the country the mummy is from. The movie has plenty of new monsters for the heroes to contend with and Jet Li as the mummy was an inspired choice.

Since the last edition of the power rankings, Lebron has increased his scoring while his assists have stayed right where they are at. With the addition of Anderson Varejo back into the Cavs lineup, it’s quite possible to see those assists go up over the next several weeks.

One shared characteristic of the props used is that the machinery is big, sleek and geometric in shape with bunches of blinking lights and beeping sounds. The props & SFX used in Forbidden Planet are similar to that of the 60s Star Trek and Lost in Space. The worst is of the spaceship hovering and landing in the beginning which made me laugh! The cheesy SFX didn’t age well but we need to accept that that is what was probably cutting edge for it’s time.

Additionally, if you are not able to feel comfortable wearing the dress, than you are probably not going to have fun at prom to the extent that you would want to. After the event, you will definitely glance back on what happened and not on what you were wearing.

You need to buy an HDMI cable to get the best video from the PS3 Consoles to your TV. Don’t spend “Monster” prices though! A less expensive cable gets the signal to your TV just like a more expensive one. Digital cables are all or nothing.

The 360 will not play high definition discs (it used to have an HD-DVD add-on drive, but Blu-Ray won the “format war” between them). The Wii, on the other hand, does not output high definition signals at all, so it really isn’t as comparable as the 360 to the PS3 Consoles. The 360 is a fine system. It has good games. Microsoft sells 360 systems for less than the PS3 Consoles – but these systems have no hard drive, no wireless, they basically cost the same to get them to the same level of performance and versatility.

2008 was not a year for true horror films but a year for the more subtle story driven (and dare I say it) PG-13 horror films. Only a handful of true hard-core horror films were even released theatrically much less made this list as many of the most praised films had limited releases or went straight to DVD. This includes such films as Inside, Frontier(s), Teeth, Let The Right One In, Fido, Diary of the Dead, Hatchet, Them (Ils), and Mother of Tears: The Third Mother, among others., where they found an audience. The halcyon days of when films like Saw, Hostel, and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (remake) ruled the Box Office has been replaced with more mainstream fare but no matter what obstacles, horror fans will find their films no matter what format they are released in.
