2008 was not a year for true horror films but a year for the more subtle story driven (and dare I say it) PG-13 horror films. Only a handful of true hard-core horror films were even released theatrically much less made this list as many of the most praised films had limited releases or went straight to DVD. This includes such films as Inside, Frontier(s), Teeth, Let The Right One In, Fido, Diary of the Dead, Hatchet, Them (Ils), and Mother of Tears: The Third Mother, among others., where they found an audience. The halcyon days of when films like Saw, Hostel, and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (remake) ruled the Box Office has been replaced with more mainstream fare but no matter what obstacles, horror fans will find their films no matter what format they are released in.
Disney California Adventure will also open at 8:00am. Will Chris Iannetta finally get 500-plus at-bats behind the plate? It’s not that the actors are bad but it’s the simplistic script, which I found to be the film’s weakest part.
