Probably the most cerebral band of all time, the multi instrument talent of all members is off the chart. It’s like listening to 5 perfectly synced 1 man bands all at once!

The hyperactivity displayed herein usues the most annoying of tonal texutres and noodley of motifs. The prime example of what 'prog rock' at its worst. Too clever by half and not nearly intelligent or musical enough for its own good. Self indulgent on a group scale that even surpasses ELP. The only musical challenge here seems to be playing in odd and complex time signatures without having much to say. The vocalist is almost indecipherable due to the rushed manner of trying to keep up with said time signatures. The guitarist and bassist ae likely the only members here who could play with other musicians. The Kb player needs to use settings other than the stock form the factory ones. The drummer just bashs any old way.
OTOH there is no cow bell.
An addition to this band would be more keyboards.

This strikes me as a weird mixture of punk and progressive rock. Everyone else in the group seems to be able to sing better than the lead singer.

I can never understand why I keep forgetting about Gentle Giant, and every time I rediscover them and come back to them, I suddenly remember that I really, really don't like them.
Once upon a time skills actually meant something. Those seem to have been the days. A bit before my time, but thank goodness for recordings. Even when these talented cats were trying to reinvent themselves and make their sound "more accessible" with Civilian and Giant for a Day, they remained essentially stuck on jarringly hyper-funky polyrhythms and other fascinating complexities. As a violinist, violist, cellist, woodwindist, zu zitter carzayist and musical nerd who is well aware of how faked and manipulated the music injustry has become (and has been since forever), I find it more artistically rewarding to CHASE PEOPLE AWAY https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JVJy-GOm_H8 than give a hoot about any dumbed-down ersatz "profession" dominated by well sheltered, well connected, tech-faked low-skill flakes. Thank you and keep it musical!
